The self-service Marisqueria behind the shuttered Mercat del Born makes it possible to choose your own seafood from the icy trays and have it cooked as you please. It’s a holdover from the days when the market was as packed with fresh seafood as the Boqueria market off Las Ramblas is today.
The atmosphere, however, leaves something to be desired, with bright lighting, cheap linoleum and square aluminum tables. On the upside, the food is fresh and affordable (Carrer Comercial).
